MJay" is a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). She is a proud member of the Association of Government Accountants and The American Society of Military Comptrollers.
" MJay's" interest in checks and balances was evident from her early childhood days as bookkeeper for her family's farmland in South Carolina.
She graduated "with honors" from South Carolina State University earning a BS degree in Business Administration. "MJay" continued her education at the University of California-Berkeley and the University of North Carolina before returning to South Carolina State University to earn her Masters in Education. Her training did not stop there-she went on to complete a 3-Year Civilian Leader Development Program at the Communications Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
"MJay" has completed numerous other finance, accounting, leadership and management courses and programs over the years, and she has conducted extensive research in financial management strategies.
During her federal government career as a finance and accounting supervisor, she progressed from entry level to senior management in an amazingly brief period of time.
Throughout her career, she has written many official finance, accounting and management procedures that are still recognized and followed today. She also developed numerous training guides that became the standard for thousands of government employees.
After residing in North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia, Arizona, New Jersey and New York, "MJay" returned to South Carolina in the spring of 1998 to care for her aging parents. Her dedication to educating the world on money management did not end at this point however-instead, 1998 marked the beginning of a new era as MJays Investments & Publishing Company was born. This is a small financial literacy business focused on educating others. In conjunction with this financial literacy effort, she authored and self-published a Writer’s Digest award-winning book entitled MJays Financial Management Guide, A Simple Guide to Managing Your Finances, to help others to independently take control of their finances
MJay is the recipient of many awards and decorations, including her most treasured Army command award for outstanding contributions in assisting, encouraging, motivating, and guiding people as they moved through the many stages of their careers. She is a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a Consortium Board Member for Low Country Healthy Start, and a member of dthe NAACP.
MJay is married and the mother of two adult sons, Dwayne (Bobbi) and Darrell and the grandmother of LaNaya, Dwayne Jr. and Domonick.
